M.Y. implemented
its own quality assurance system in conformity with ISO 9002, and was
certified in 1998. The commitment to quality engineering is however
a company wide entrenched principle. This quality engineering system
covers the activities of quality control, process control, alloy designing,
and technical supports to fully meet customers' operational and potential
requirements.
Quality
Control
At M.Y., on-line
and impassible controlling process are installed integrating totally
with production, to assure adequate coverage of all customers needs.
Specific quality assurance control points for production of petrochemical
assemblies are the following:
- Check design
calculation and alloy selection.
- Order technical
review and Launching.
- Chemical analysis
controls: by using SPETROLAB and coupons of patented alloys, more
than 30 kinds of elements (including Ti, Zr, RE) can be simultaneously
analyzed within 30 seconds.
- Room temperature
mechanical characteristics control.
- Short time shell
rupture test.
- 100% combined
low-pressure Air test / Fluorescent penetrant testing of all tube
external surface, which is one unique
characteristics of M.Y. to find quickly and easily the slightest defect
on the surface.
- 100% dimensional
inspection of tube ends.

- 100% Eddy-current
test of all machined tube inside surface: another characteristics,
a reliable method to detect the presence of tooling grooves and internal
metal intergrity.
- 100% liquid penetrant
inspection of all tube weld bevels.
- Micro-structural
control.
- 100% liquid penetrant
of butt weld root passes and cover passes.
- 100% radiographic
of complete tube to tube or tube to fitting butt welds.
- Hydrostatic test
of completed assemblies.
Process
Control
- All critical
parameters at M.Y. facilities are controlled by real time process control
devices. Variation is held to a minimum to further ensure consistent
production.
- Launching Sheet and Launching Meetings are the routine in M.Y. to
guarantee its accuracy, and to be understood by each operator.
- Pilot tube (castings): All new casting configuration methods undergo
a special "piloting" process under the direction of the Technical Manager.
Until the pilot castings are released for production, the production
quantities are not commenced.
- Travelling Card: a unique recording sheet for each product travelling
along with the product through whole process, with confirmation and
signature of each operator. By such, the integrity of process control
and traceability of products is gained.
